D&G line to close; Do we care?

25 Sep

Last week, Dolce & Gabbana announced that their D&G line would be dissolved so that the pair could concentrate on their main line.

Created in 1994, D&G was supposed to be the young, fresh approach the fashion. A stark contrast to the elegant clothing that was the norm for Dolce & Gabbana. As a young person, I must say that I don’t really care about D&G closing. I understand that the line was only created so that the company may compete in a market aimed at the young, but I was never that big of the clothing. There were few pieces that absolutely inspired me. Often times, I felt as though I’d seen many of what D&G offered before.

Now maybe I’m just an exceptional teen and most youth prefer D&G over Dolce & Gabbana. Or maybe Dolce & Gabbana always trumped D&G and D&G never should’ve existed in the first place.

OOTD: A Soft Beauty

25 Sep

This is my very first OOTD for the blog. I must say that I’m pretty proud of this look. Sorry that there are no pictures of me actually wearing the outfit but my camera went stir crazy when I turned on my timer. So for now, you just have pictures of the actual garments and I will explain the fit of each piece.

The lace shirt ($3.99, Goodwill) fits rather tight and is crew neck.

The shorts (vintage) are only slightly loose

The Grandma sweater (also vintage) is very loose.

The Owl Necklace comes down to my belly button. I also would like to mention that I bought it from a seller on EBay for $1.75 with free S/H. I’ve seen this necklace and ones with slight differences retail for up to $10. The seller has some colored ones like it and here’s a link to the store

The bangles came in a set from Charlotte Russe. I only wore a few but there were eight in the set. I think it retails for about five or six dollars but I bought it with an earring set, for the two for $8 deal.

First post

25 Sep

Well, this is my first post for Style It Now. I’m pretty sure I’ll be the only person visiting the blog for a while, but if I can get 5 people to visit regularly I’ll be pretty stoked. I’m not sure what to talk about in an introductory post but perhaps I should just go over the basics:

Style It Now is my (Andria) fashion blog. On it, I hope to include OOTDs (Outfit of the Day), shopping hauls, trends, product reviews, music, movies, books (basically anything and everything that matters to me). I’m getting into make-up and beauty as well, so as my blog grows, I’d like to include posts about those as well.

The name Style It Now comes from my love of the present. Fashion is always looking ahead. We find out the big trends for the upcoming seasons months beforehand. Avant Garde is all about looking forward and anything that hints of the past must be modern. And while I appreciate all of that, when I get up in the morning, I dress for the now. I put on clothes that reflect who I am at that moment, not who I will be in six months. I feel as though if I’m always looking ahead, I won’t be able to live in the moment and enjoy life for what it is.

I guess I should also introduce myself. I’m Andria, a sophomore in college studying business & finance when I really just want to be a fashion stylist. I often feel like I’m wasting time (and 40k a year) in the Midwest studying for a career I don’t want. I’d rather run away to New York, live in a crappy apartment and start working as a stylist with one client than make 100k+ working teaching some poor sap how to invest his money. I guess that’s why I’m starting this blog. It’s all about me styling my first and best client (myself) and I’m hoping something will come out of this.

This post is becoming long-winded, so I will end it here.

Thanks for stopping by Style It Now.
